With the advent of globalization and as Indian economy primarily being agro based, the need for trained managers, who have exposue and skills of diverse cultures, is increasing in the country. Agribusiness has opened up vast opportunities for value addition, packaging, retailing and export of agricultural products, high applications of advanced technology and management. As majority of Indian population is dependent on agriculture and this sector supplies raw material of various agro based industries the progressive growth of Indian economy is most likely to be controlled by Agri.business sector. The challenges can only be achieved through continuous improvement and up-gradation of capability, skills and changes in the mindset.
The course is designed to provide an ideal learning environment, practical interaction with industry and adequate field exposure to enable the development enterprising agribusiness professionals to meet the growing need of the industry. The Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth has initiated the Master of Business Management(Agri.) programme in order to meet the needs of trained agribusiness manpower and employers in 2008. Later on during 2009 the nomenclature of this degree programme is changed as Master of Business Administration (Agriculture). The MBA(Agri.), a fully residential. ICAR new Delhi approved, post graduate degree programme in agribusiness management is the flagship programme.

MBA (Agri.) is a two year full time post graduate degree programme comprises of four semester affiliated to Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri (Maharashtra). The programme is designed by considering all the best courses of various institutes and incorporating the requirements of agricultural sector in general that of Management aspects in Particular.
