Agricultural Botany section has initiated the work of development of Herbal Garden. At present, about 140 medicinal and aromatic plant species have been collected and maintained in the garden. The propagation of few medicinal plants is also undertaken. This section also uses to display medicinal and aromatic plants in the exhibitions organized by various institutes. The plant tissue culture laboratory established in 1998-99 in this section is being utilized for conducting practicals of BOT-356 (Principles of Plant Biotechnology).Similarly this section is also raising large-scale single eye bud sugarcane polythene bag seedlings to cater the need of sugar factories and farmers. The computer facilities provided to this section are being utilized for analysing the data of research experiments in addition to students’ activities.
