About NCC
College of Agriculture Pune is one of the oldest colleges having NCC (National Cadet Corps) Army (Infantry) unit. It is attached to 36 Maharashtra Battalion NCC Pune. Unit cadet’s strength is 100. Boys and girls are enrolled in NCC. Students are enrolled in first year and trained for three years .During training period cadets gets training in military subjects as well as in general subjects.
Aims of NCC
To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizen. To create a human resource of organized trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and be always available for the service of the nation. To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
Activities
Cadets get trained in drill, weapon training, map reading, field and battle craft. Besides these cadets gets knowledge regarding disaster management, social service, national integration, personal hygiene and health, military history etc. During three years of NCC training period, cadet under go for various camps like CATC, trekking, NIC, TSC, RD, Firing ALC. During NCC training period cadets appear for B and C certificate examinations. After completing C certificate examination with A or B grade cadets get the opportunity to join in defense forces. Our ex cadets are working in regular army as an army officer, most of them joined in Paramilitary forces like CRPF, CISF and BSF. They get benefitted in civil services like IAS, IPS. In state services (MPSC) cadets get due advantage in selection of post like DySP, PSI, Forest Ranger Officer etc. NCC inculcates confidence, sportsman spirit, leadership qualities, discipline and secular outlook in cadets.
