Agricultural College Dairy farm, Pune was started in the year 1878 in the Greater Bombay state. The college of Agriculture was established in the year 1907.The dairy farm was under the control of Agronomy Section of Agricultural College till 1946. Since 1948, the division of Animal husbandry and dairy science was working independently under the control of class II officer up to 1964. From August 1964, the post of class -I officer was created as Divisional Head of Animal Husbandry and Dairying and subsequently it was designated as Professor of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science, in the University cadre and it is continued till today.
