HI TECH FLORICULTURE PROJECT.
- About-
Hi tech floriculture project, College of Agriculture, Pune is one of the important project of protected cultivation. Area under protected cultivation is 5.5 Acre. Post diploma training, Commercial production, Technology demonstration and farmers training are important activities of this project.
Project demonstrates production technology of Gerbera, Dutch Rose, Capsicum, Cucumber, Gypsophilia etc. under polyhouse conditions.
One-year full time residential training programme on ‘Polyhouse technology’ for Agriculture Diploma holders is an important activity of this project. This training facilitates skill development and entrepreneurship promotion among trainees. This training is useful to develop confidence among trainees for quality production, precise fertigation, plant protection, environment management in greenhouses and marketing of cut flowers.
This project was started in the year 2001. Govt. of Maharashtra had granted Rs.3.00 crore to develop this project.
Total area of project including polyhouses building, structures, roads, pond and open space is 12.00 Acre.Out of which 5.5 acre area is under naturally ventilated polyhouses. Area of open field is 1.88 acre. Area under pond and roads is 0.55 Acre and 4.37 acre respectively.
